Hopes are high that Sussex will reap the benefits if the 2012 Olympic Games are held in London.
Tomorrow, the International Olympic Committee announces which city will host the Games and Sussex's sporting and tourist facilities could stand to gain if Britain's bid is successful.
They hope visitors to the Olympics will take the opportunity to visit Sussex before and during the Games because it is near the capital and cross channel links.
And they believe its top sporting facilities would attract Olympic teams from all over the world to train and acclimatise before competing.
Crawley's K2 sports centre, which opens later this year, will have the only 50-metre swimming pool in the South, plus an athletics track and gymnastic hall.
Worthing Leisure Centre boasts a projectile hall specifically for shooting and the All England Jumping Course in Hickstead is famous for its equestrian course.
East Grinstead's water-based hockey pitch is a regional centre for the South-East while Eastbourne is the home of a world-class international tennis venue at Devonshire Park and one of the largest marinas in Europe.
London 2012 has ruled out using any facilities outside the capital for the Games but many teams could come to Sussex beforehand to prepare.
City Council officers have already met with the Olympic Committee to discuss how Brighton and Hove will be one of cities taking part in a year-long programme of celebration if the Games come to London.
A council spokesman said: "Winning the bid would be brilliant for the entire country and particularly for the South-East."
