Villagers whose homes are slowly crumbling into the sea are to attend a meeting of council leaders to discuss funding for a rescue plan.
Rother District Council's cabinet will hold this month's meeting at the village hall in Fairlight, where 18 houses are perched on a crumbling cliff and could fall into the sea at any time.
Councillors must decide whether to spend another £89,000 developing a sea defence plan. About £160,000 has already been spent developing the plan but the total cost of the scheme would be between £4 million and £5 million. Four-fifths of the money would come from the Government.
Dr John Sinclair, of the Fairlight Cove Preservation Trust, said: "Every time it rains we are nervous the cliffs could collapse."
The meeting is on Friday, July 15, at 11am.
