Many people have expressed concern St Peter's Church may no longer be a place of worship if the re-organisation of Brighton's Anglican churches abides by the recent Pastoral Review.
Since the Parochial Church Council, the governing body of St Peter's, has looked at the report, we have the following comments.
We appreciate the need to review Anglican churches in Brighton and Hove, which has been a starting point for our own discussions on how St Peter's can be of more spiritual and social use.
We believe people's spiritual life is important and keeping a place of worship at St Peter's is vital for the 10,000 people who live in the area.
It is also important as a Christian witness, since St Peter's stands at the gateway to our city. This may also open the exciting possibility of working together with other denominations and faiths if we are able to maintain and build upon the religious community which already exists here.
