Fresh from a landmark performance at Glastonbury, where he gave crowds a much-appreciated ray of sunshine, the legendary Beach Boy Brian Wilson returns to Brighton with more good vibrations.

Despite personal traumas including drug addiction, mental health problems and bereavement, Wilson has been responsible for some of the most inspirational, uplifting and cherished music in pop history.

After spending years shunning the limelight he is once again thriving, selling out venues all over the world with his 10-piece band and gaining a new generation of fans, thanks to his unforgettable melodies and beautiful harmonies.

Wilson's career started in 1961 when, at the age of 19, he formed a harmony group with his younger brothers Dennis and Carl.

As The Beach Boys, the brothers went on to record songs which would become part of the fabric of American pop culture, including Surfin' USA, Fun, Fun, Fun and I Get Around.

Despite his decision to stop touring with the band in 1964 due to stage fright and stress, he continued to write and produce their music, including the seminal Pet Sounds LP in 1966 and the 'lost album', Smile, which was recorded but never released.

The Beach Boys continued to be one of the most popular touring acts in the world but an increasingly troubled Brian withdrew himself from the band and the world. And so he remained until 1988 when he released his first solo album.

In 1998, after years of sporadic activity, Wilson recorded the album Imagination and finally learned to cope with his stage fright. For the first time in decades he started to play live to great acclaim, going on to perform the whole Pet Sounds album on world tours to the delight of fans, and the completed Smile album was eventually released in 2004.

Thursday's greatest hits concert will include classic Beach Boys songs as well as more recent material.
