Is Frame the next Johnny Borrell? Maybe in another time he would have been.
The ex-Aztec Camera frontman lacked a band but was hardly bereft of friends at the Old Market Hall.
Instead, surrounded by devotees (Rebecca, in the front row, was his oldest fan apparently) he played a solo set every bit as bittersweet as we remembered.
I was at school when I first heard Somewhere In My Heart. Since then I've found a job and he seems to have aged about five days but I'm proud to say we both still know the words.
This may have been an acoustic set but Frame's gift has always been producing eloquent and heart-breaking pop with little but a guitar anyway.
Here, strumming nervously between songs, he recounted stories with the edginess of a reformed criminal. But when he played, he reminded you just what a golden touch he has.
