FOUR Brighton women and their dogs are heading off in search of glory at Crufts.
All are bidding for victory in the obedience championships on Friday, which will be hotly contested by 24 dogs and their owners. The group includes Sylvia Bishop, from Coldean, a previous winner of the category in which the clever canines have to fetch items before a panel of judges, five-times Crufts competitor June Stenning and first-timers Brenda Winter and Brenda Potiphar, both from Woodingdean. For June Stenning, 58, from Hollingdean, and her champion bitch Runfold, it will be the sixth attempt at success at Britain's premier dog show. June will be accompanied to Birmingham's NEC by her dog-mad family including husband Cyril, and two daughters Lisa, 30, and Maria, 38. June, a cleaner at Brighton University, said: "We all love dogs and we love Crufts. The whole family supports Runfold. "It's the first time four women have entered the obedience championships from Brighton. "I am hoping to do well but you just can't train for Crufts. It's all to do with how the dog performs on the day and the judges' panel. "It's really tough because you do not know what the judges are looking for."
