DETECTIVES were today hunting a shotgun-wielding robber who threatened an assistant in a jewellery shop before grabbing thousands of pounds from the safe.
The man entered Ingots watchmakers and jewellers in Kensington Gardens, Brighton, yesterday just as the assistant was closing the shop. The robber pulled out a sawn-off shotgun and locked the 31-year-old employee in an office before emptying the safe and running off towards North Street. The man was wearing a dark woolly hat and very large dark sunglasses. He wore dark clothing. The shop assistant was badly shaken but unhurt. Apolice spokesman appealing for witnesses said: "We are confident a lot of people would have noticed a man carrying a hold-all and wearing huge sunglasses sprinting through the streets."
