MANY people living in the outlying estates of Brighton and Hove feel they are isolated and forgotten.
They range from Mile Oak in the top of Portslade to Coldean in the north of Brighton. Latest estate to make a plea for help is Bevendean which is at the end of a long valley into the Downs. It certainly does have far fewer public amenities than its immediate neighbour Moulsecoomb which can boast an attractive community leisure centre and a health centre. Bevendean needs a community centre more than anything else to provide a focus for this close-knit local community. It is good to see that local people are helping themselves by forming a community forum and arranging a family fun day in June. Perhaps Brighton and Hove Council can see if there is any way in which it can assist, perhaps by making land or a building available.
