PART of Hove seafront was sealed off today in a chemical scare.
A container without its lid was washed up on Hove beach, prompting fears it had contained toxic chemicals similar to those found at Brighton on Sunday. But it turned out to be nothing more sinister than a domestic hot water cylinder. Kings Esplanade and the beach just east of the King Alfred were sealed off around 9am for more than half an hour. There was another false alarm at Cuckmere Haven, near Seaford, on Sunday.
