BRIGHTON'S famous bikers' haunt The Waterfront Cafe is to re-open on Sunday for the arrival of more than 300 vintage bike owners.
The move signals a possible reprieve for the cafe which closed earlier this month after falling into the hands of receivers. The seaside watering hole on Madeira Drive won huge popularity among bikers as a top meeting place in the Sixties. Now biking enthusiasts taking part in the 61st Pioneer Run from Epsom to Brighton will be able visit to the cafe once again. Receivers are planning to open the cafe on Sunday to host the rally, organised by the Sunbeam Club of England. 9 A total of 330 riders will pilot their classic machines built before 1914. They will include a French-made Leon Bollee machine, constructed in 1896. The first bikes are expected to arrive at Brighton by 10am. Brewery giant Courage is to continue supplying beer to the Waterfront Cafe. Chris Hopkins said recievers planned to open the cafe on a permanent basis. He said: "This opening is not just a one-off. Our understanding is that the receivers plan to re-open the cafe and trade it as an ongoing business." Staff at receivers Begbie Traynor were unavailable for comment.
