SUSSEX firefighters have been praised for a report on their services.
An Audit Commission report on East Sussex Fire Brigade found the service had improved its performance over the last three years. Last year the brigade achieved the Home Office standard on 97 per cent of occasions, making it one of the top 20 in the country. The annual cost of the service per person was £24.45. Coun Bill Clements, chairman of East Sussex Fire Authority, said: "I would like to congratulate all our firefighters and other Brigade personnel for the work they do on behalf of all the communities of East Sussex. "I and my fellow councillors will continue to ensure the services remain efficient and cost effective."
