EASTENDERS' favourite barmaid may be dead, but Peacehaven is making sure her memory lives on by launching the Tiffany Tour.

The town found fame after Tiffany's death in a road accident in the BBC soap.

In Thursday's episode, to be repeated tomorrow, the ashes of the barmaid were scattered over the cliffs by her distraught husband, Grant Mitchell.

Peacehaven was chosen as Tiffany's final resting place, with viewers told she had spent happy childhood holidays there. Filming, however, took place at Seaford Head.

Retired carpet salesman Tony Carter, 62, decided to launch the Tiffany Tour when a total stranger visiting the town asked him directions to the pub where she used to play in the garden.

He has now put a sign up in the front window of his four-bedroom house overlooking the sea at 3 Roderick Avenue, saying: "This is the house where Tiffany stayed as a little girl while holidaying in Peacehaven."

His tour will include what Tony says is the beach where she paddled, the Dell Recreation Ground where she played with her brother and the pub garden where she used to sit and drink lemonade.

Tony Howard, leader of Peacehaven Town Council, said: "This is a great idea. It shows there are individuals in Peacehaven full of initiative. We are now hoping to get a mention in Coronation Street."
