A TEN-YEAR-OLD girl was injured as she tackled a 6ft masked raider who threatened her with a carving knife.
The girl was at home in Reynolds Road, Hove, when the intruder broke in just before 1pm.
Police said the girl confronted the raider and struggled with him. She made a grab for his knife and suffered minor injuries before he broke free.
He fled out of the back door and over garden fences.
Police searched the area but there was no trace of the man.
Aspokesman said: "The girl is shaken but did not suffer serious injury. She was frightened but was very brave."
Detectives were today hunting for the raider and appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
The man was 6ft, with dark-brown hair and blue eyes. He wore a black balaclava, grey jumper and jeans.
