A NIGHT out ended in tragedy when a 20-year-old man fell to his death from a 70mph train.
The man, single and from Worthing, was killed instantly last night when he fell from a door as the train was between Barnham and Ford.
He had been out for the evening in Chichester with six friends, all said to be in deep shock today.
Police have launched an investigation into the 11.30pm tragedy, which delayed rail services by two hours.
Insp Mick Morriss, of British Transport Police, said: "We are not treating it as suspicious and we have ruled out any fault with the train.
"We believe some of the group had been drinking but I must stress that none of them appeared to be drunk.
"It's a tragedy."
