ALBION boss Jeff Wood has accused some senior players of "going through the motions".
Wood was furious after Saturday's 4-0 drubbing by Darlington.
It was the Seagulls' sixth defeat in succession and heaviest at home in the League since October 1990.
Wood, reflecting on the club's worst run for 11 years, raged: "I have never been involved in such a limp-wristed display in my life. Once the second goal went in we gave up and that's an absolute disgrace.
"Some of the experienced players are just going through the motions.
"I'm pointing the finger at some of our experienced players who have gone hiding."
Darlington's Marco Gabbiadini celebrated the fifth hat-trick of his career, then wrestled Albion kit man Jock Riddell for the match ball in the tunnel.
Said Riddell: "I told him I would have to see the manager first. We lose two balls in a game at Gillingham sometimes.
"He started shoving and trying to take it, but I shoved him away and went in the dressing room."
Gabbiadini said: "I got the ball eventually. I've never seen that happen before. You usually expect to get it."
Gabbiadini completed his hat-trick with a late penalty after Albion's Paul Armstrong had a spot-kick saved by David Preece.
The Seagulls are still 13th, but they are now seven points adrift of the play-offs and have played more matches than all except one of the sides above them.
Andy Arnott and Jamie Moralee are suspended for Saturday's trip to Hartlepool.
