MANCHESTER United can score a crucial away goal in their Champions League collision with Inter Milan.

And former Albion boss Liam Brady reckons that will secure their passage through to the semi-finals.

United go into tonight's showdown at the San Siro 2-0 up from the first leg at Old Trafford.

Brady, who spent two years at Inter Milan in the mid-Eighties, said: "I think they are in a great position to advance. They are very capable of getting an away goal and if they do that it will be beyond Inter to turn the tie around.

"I wasn't impressed with their defence at Old Trafford and with Dwight Yorke, Andy Cole and David Beckham United can find that away goal."

Yorke, a revelation since his £12 million plus capture from Aston Villa, scored both goals in the first leg. With Beckham providing the ammunition from the right flank Brady believes the smiling assassin from Trinidad can strike again.

"That kind of money has not been paid before for somebody unproven, but I have always fancied Yorke as top class," said Brady. "Being with a better team has improved him dramatically.

"Nobody knew whether he had the temperament to go and do it at Old Trafford. Some strikers have gone there and been overwhelmed by the whole experience, but he thrives on it.

"Beckham is a class player. He is the best crosser of a ball around and I can understand why Alex Ferguson plays him out wide on the right."

Brady does urge a note of caution. "Inter are a threat up front," he warned. "I don't know how fit Ronaldo is, but they have Baggio as well and it's a question of whether Stam and the rest of the United defence can cope.

"If Inter stop United from scoring it's a toss up, because I think Inter will score."

Brady, 43, has a vested interest in the outcome. The former Republic of Ireland midfield maestro is head of youth development at his old club Arsenal, who face United in the FA Cup semi-finals and are battling with them at the top of the Premiership.

The longer United survive in Europe the more it could detract from their bid to reclaim the Chhampionship crown from the Gunners.

"United have a points advantage over us and they don't seem to have any weaknesses," added Brady. "I think we have got it all to do, but if anyone can do it we can."
