ADISABLED man has rescued his mother from their blazing home.
Michael Owen, 52, was cooking chips for lunch at the house in Roundstone Crescent, East Preston, when he had an epileptic fit.
He said: "I went into the sitting room to take my medication but I had a fit. The chip pan then caught light and set the kitchen on fire.
"The smoke alarm brought me round and I managed to get my bed-ridden mother outside."
Mr Owen's mother, Rosemary, 79, suffers from bronchitis and arthritis.
He said: "I dragged her down the stairs, took her outside and put a blanket round her as she only had her nightie on. Then I called the fire brigade."
The blaze on Saturday destroyed the cooker and caused smoke damage in the kitchen.
