SEAN LOUCKS is demanding a much improved display when Worthing Bears tackle Derby Storm in their final away match of the season tonight.

Head coach Loucks was dismayed with the manner of the performance as Bears were condemned to the Budweiser League wooden spoon in going down 116-94 to Great London Leopards last Saturday.

Although Bears have already lost four times to Derby this season, including a 100-88 home defeat only a week ago, Loucks insists this is "an extremely winnable game".

He said: "We lost last week's game against Derby ourselves. Not only were Storm without the suspended Rico Alderson and Yorick Williams, but their big guy Nick Donovan is out injured.

"The door is wide open for us to come in and do it. If we play our full game there is no reason why we shouldn't win. It's all about heart and attitude in our remaining three games."

Loucks believes Derby, beaten 90-69 by Manchester in the Uni-ball Trophy final 11 days ago, have a great back court in former Bear Joel Burns and Natt Reinking.

He added: "They've also got some veterans up front. John Tresvant is quite strong and Maurice Robinson is quiet good, but he also fatigues easily and can't play a full game."

Bears have not won an away game for 13 months, a run of 26 games, and Loucks says it is vital the players show fighting spirit until the end.

He said: "Right now it is a very tough time of the year for us. Once it's gone it will have flown by, but at the moment it feels like it could be a long final two weeks."

Loucks will give up his position as head coach at the end of this season and be replaced by Charles Luke-Bannerman, who is currently assistant coach. Loucks will be the new No.2
