The Tasmanian left-hander was due to fly into Gatwick this morning and Sussex hope he will make his debut in Thursday's day-night friendly against Kent under the new permanent floodlights at Hove.

Cricket Manager Peter Moores said: "The plan is for Michael to play if he has got over his jetlag. We are playing a game amongst ourselves tomorrow and he may also be involved in that, it depends how he feels."

Meanwhile Sussex's injured bowlers are all back in training with the exception of Jason Lewry.

James Kirtley and Justin Bates returned yesterday after suffering from 'flu while Mark Robinson has resumed light jogging following his knee operation. Michael Strong is also bowling again after suffering an intercostal injury during the winter while he played club cricket in South Africa.

Sussex plan to field their strongest possible team against Kent in the 45 overs contest under National League rules, Kent's first ever match under floodlights.

The game is the centrepiece of the club's open day. Gates open at 2pm and admission is free.
