Wood has included a hat-trick of alternatives to Richard Barker and Gary Hart for tomorrow's trip to play-off pursuers Mansfield.
Stuart Storer, Lawrence Davies and Andy Ansah are all included in an 18-strong squad intent on stalling the sliding Seagulls' nine-match run without a win.
Storer, who started his career at Mansfield, is better known as a winger but has experience of playing through the middle.
Davies' chances depend on how well he recovers from a bout of gastric flu, while Ansah has forced his way back into the reckoning after impressing in the Reserves.
Barker and Hart have each gone nine games without a goal following last Saturday's 1-0 home defeat by Barnet.
Wood said: "Up front has been one of our problems. We have not scored from open play since beating Peterborough 1-0 at home, and that is something we have got to rectify.
"Something has to change. The front two have had a good run and maybe now it's a chance to look at someone else."
Paul Armstrong, who nodded a late winner for the Reserves on Wednesday, Paul Sturgess and goalkeeping deputy Will Packham are added along with Ansah to the 14 on duty against Barnet.
Leftback Sturgess is on standby to replace Phil King. The former Swindon man's third appearance for the Seagulls is threatened by a thigh strain.
Ross Johnson is a definite starter in a holding midfield role at the expense of youth teamer Duncan McArthur.
