A SERIAL hoaxer responsible for at least 16 bogus fire calls was finally caught yesterday - by a fireman telling her his life story.

The East Sussex Fire Brigade controller kept the woman chatting on the line long enough for the call to be traced.

Police traced the call to a box near Brighton's Preston Park and arrested her.

She was taken to Brighton police station, warned and released, but minutes later she was at it again.

Another hoax call was received before the woman was arrested again. This time she was kept in custody.

Police think she is responsible for 14 hoax calls since the end of January, plus the two yesterday.

A 39-year-old woman was charged in connection with hoax calls last night and was due before Brighton magistrates today.
