RYAN BISH, the Brighton man cleared of murdering father-of-two Leigh Shaw, appeared in court again to admit disorderly behaviour during which abuse was thrown atpolice.

Bish, 23, was acquitted of killing 37-year-old West Ham supporter Mr Shaw after a five-week trial earlier this year.

Yesterday he blamed the problems caused by the 18 months he spent in custody before his trial for the trouble he is having settling back into a normal life.

He was given a 12-month conditional discharge for using disorderly behaviour in St James's Street, Brighton.

The court heard Bish, of Limney Road, Whitehawk, and a friend were arrested on May 22 when they were abusive to police who were making inquiries into a matter in St James's Street.

Peter Morris, defending, said Bish was sorry to be appearing in court again.

Magistrates heard a jury at Lewes Crown Court had cleared Bish of the murder of Mr Shaw, who died after being attacked at the Whitehawk's Valley Social Club in October, 1997.

Mr Morris said: "He has been having difficulty settling back into a normal life. He is living at home with his parents and has found it difficult to go out.

"He went out that night with a friend who has supported him while he was in custody and they had too much to drink. He is very sorry that it happened.

"He spent a night in the cells and it reminded him of the 18 months he spent in in custody."

Colin Stacey, a 30-year-old Whitehawk man, was jailed for life for Mr Shaw's murder.
