Buildings in the area that will be open because of their architectural significance include the Bauhaus-style Sea Lane House at Kingston Gorse and the better known Shoreham Airport, in celebration of its Art Deco building. Opening times are detailed in the leaflet.

Animal Instincts is currently on show in the Art Gallery and is an imaginative collection of animal representations made from a wide variety of material including bronze, wire and wood-shavings through to prints, drawings and paintings.
Starting on October 30, Winter Wonderland will be set up in The Studio. The staff will be trawling through the Museum's extensive collection to create winter indoors by displaying everything connected with the winter season.
Northbrook Theatre: Some more interesting productions are coming. They include a play featuring one of our best-loved fictional detectives, Sherlock Holmes and The Shadow of the Phantom (November 3-6) and Game (November 17), which promises to be a thought-provoking play about characters whose lives defy convention.

Tutankhamun: For something out of the ordinary how about considering a Study Day Workshop on November 20 at the Queen Street Community Centre in Worthing? The subject is Valley of the Kings - on the Trail of Tutankhamun.

CHOIR: Forest Row Royal National Lifeboat Institution choir are well into rehearsing for Christmas under the baton of new conductor Simon Morris, who has got us off to a good start.
New members would still be welcome to help the choir with their various bookings over the festive period, ranging from Crawley Mall to the Ashdown Hotel on Christmas Eve.
Rehearsals are in St. Dunstan's church hall on a Monday evening between 8-l0pm.
It is with great sorrow that the choir has learned of the death of Myfannwy Townsend, the conductor before last, who had been a member of the choir in this capacity and as a singer for many years.
PLAY: Forest Row Dramatic Society are presenting Daisy Pulls It Off as their autumn production. The society have agreed to donate the proceeds from the November 4 performance to the RNLI. I have tickets for sale for that night at £5.50.
FLOWER CLUB: The Forest Row club meets on Monday at Forest Row C of E School at 7.30 for 7.45pm. The programme is Looking towards Christmas with Andrea Winder. The competition is Bonfire Night.
BRAVERY: A policeman who lived and was educated in Forest Row has been given the highest police bravery award for saving the life of a suicidal man.
Peter Mortleman was presented with the Bravery Commendation by Hampshire chief constable Sir John Haddinott.
PC Mortleman climbed a l00ft rollercoaster in Portsmouth to stop a man jumping from the ride.

GUILD: The October meeting of St Mary's Guild marked Ina Holland's 21st year as treasurer. With a warm speech of appreciation for all she has done for the guild, leader Rosemary Edwards presented her with a golden shrub for her garden. There was celebration cake and, to complete the surprises, Ina won first prize in the raffle.
Guest speaker of the evening was Lynne McDonogh, an independent beauty consultant, who demonstrated a daily skin-care programme on volunteer Cynthia.
Willing members were treated to a hand make-over and given opportunities to sample perfumes and discuss beauty problems.

RESUSCITATION: An evening was organised where 24 villagers were shown how to resuscitate someone in the event of a heart attack. It was a serious subject but the evening was light- hearted. It raised £60 towards NHS funds and £25 for village hall funds.
If anyone is interested in the next evening, which will be sometime in November, it takes two hours. Ring Christine West on 870426 and she may endeavour to arrange a re-run.
There is also a child advisory group dealing with choking and even drowning.
WILDLIFE: A slide show and talk on the Cuckmere Valley is being held on Tuesday at 7.30pm in Arlington Village Hall. The slides provide a record of this area and its wildlife. No entry fee but donations gratefully received.
