ALBION powered through to the second round of the FA Cup last night.
But manager Micky Adams and several of his players have missed out on a grudge match with old club Brentford.
Goals by Paul Rogers, Paul Watson and Kerry Mayo gave the Seagulls a 3-0 victory over table-topping Peterborough in their first round replay at Withdean.
Adams was delighted with the performance and the backing from fans after he criticised the "dead" atmosphere for last Saturday's 1-0 home win over Hartlepool.
"FA Cup ties are normally all about passion and which team wants it," he said. "We were up for it. We knew Peterborough have good players who can destroy you, but we didn't allow them to settle and that made the difference.
"We set standards and the crowd did as well. We are not going to win the FA Cup, so we have not ordered any suits for the lads, but the revenue is very welcome."
Adams cleared up confusion over the identity of the second goalscorer by crediting it to Watson, straight from an inswinging corner.
Substitute Dave Cameron tried to claim it and his name was announced to the crowd, but Adams said: "For anyone else to claim it, apart from their goalkeeper, is ridiculous."
Plymouth Argyle knocked out Brentford 2-1 to set up a showdown with the Seagulls at Home Park on Saturday week. Adams was a victim of the Ron Noades takeover at Brentford, while Darren Freeman, Danny Cullip, Charlie Oatway, Warren Aspinall and Watson all played for the Bees.
"I'm disappointed," Adams said. "I would have liked to have gone back there to see a few friends!
"We have been to Plymouth once before. It was a tough game and we were disappointed with a 3-3 draw, but they have been one of the form teams in the Division of late."
