Ringmer's top man Richard Soan has been busy in the transfer market as he plots the downfall of triple champions Burgess Hill.

And Horsham YMCA's Nobby Knight was getting down to some real grass roots work yesterday as he prepared for the league's match of the day, at home to leaders Langney Sports.

Soan, who doubles up as manager at the Caburn, was last night completing the transfer of midfielder Steve Hogg from St Leonards.

Hogg is expected to go straight into the side for his debut as relegation-haunted Ringmer attempt to pull off the shock result of the day.

Soan admitted: "It's a daunting task for us. If we get anything out of it, it will be an important boost."

Meanwhile, Horsham YMCA chairman Knight was out working on the Gorings Mead pitch in a bid to ensure the big clash with Langney got the go ahead.

Conditions were still very wet and the match is subject to a pitch inspection this morning.

Langney were held goalless by Eastbourne Town in their last match and several sides will be hoping they suffer another slip-up in the Horsham mud this afternoon.

Among them will be Saltdean, who are missing the banned Kevin Townsend for the trip to Hassocks, who won 2-0 at Hill Park earlier in the season.

Non-league followers in Eastbourne can look forward to a busy day as the local teams face tricky home games. Eastbourne Town tackle surprise package Sidley in the morning while Redhill visit United at The Oval after lunch.
