A 24-year-old student was raped in a
"horrifying" attack as she walked home from the millennium celebrations in Brighton.
The woman was grabbed as she walked along New Church Road, Hove, at 5.30am on Saturday. She was pushed into the grounds of Aldrington Day Centre and attacked.
The terrified woman then ran home to raise the alarm.
Det Insp Russ Whitfield, of Hove CID, described it as a "particularly horrifying attack".
The woman, who is still in a state of shock, has given police a detailed description of her attacker. He is in his 30s, thinly-built with a distinctive thin face and brown eyes. He was wearing a diamond-patterned sweater and jogging bottoms.
Mr Whitfield said: "We are appealing for people who may have seen the man walking along New Church Road between 5am and 6 30am on Saturday, or may know him, to get in touch with the police."
