FORMER Beatle George Harrison has received a special get well message from a Sussex MP following his Christmas stabbing ordeal.
Lewes MP Norman Baker has written to Mr Harrison at his Henley-on-Thames mansion wishing him a speedy recovery after he was stabbed in the chest by an attacker at his luxury home on December 30.
Mr Baker, a self-confessed Beatles fan and occasional rock 'n' roll performer, said he was dismayed by the attack.
In his letter, the MP said: "The whole country will have been horrified by this attack and intrusion into your private life.
"You were a member of the group which has given and continues to give so much enjoyment and happiness to so many millions across the world, including me.
"For much of your life you have espoused peace, whether through meditation, religion or your love of nature.
"It is appalling that you and your wife, Olivia, should have been subjected to this terrible attack.
"I send you both my good wishes for a speedy recovery so that you can resume your lives in peace."
Mr Harrison, 56, is expected to make a full recovery from a partially collapsed lung. Surgeons at Harefield Hospital in London said he came within inches of death when one of the knife wounds narrowly missed a main vein.
The guitarist also suffered slash wounds as he fought with the intruder in his 120-room house on the secluded 34-acre Friar Park estate.
He is understood to have been saved from more serious injury when his wife Olivia hit the knifeman over the head with a table lamp, knocking him unconscious.
Meanwhile, a 33-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of Harrison and his wife.
Michael Abram, a father-of-two from Huyton, Liverpool, has been bailed by magistrates in Oxford to be detained at a medium secure psychiatric unit under section three of the Mental Health Act.
