THE man accused of
murdering Worthing pensioner Jean Barnes faces four additional charges.
David Munley, 56, of Byron Road, Worthing, is alleged to have murdered 87-year-old Jean Barnes between July 1 and July 26 last year.
Yesterday he appeared before Crawley magistrates and was remanded in custody.
Reclusive Miss Barnes, who spoke six languages and was one of the first women graduates of Cambridge University was found dead at her home in Tennyson Road, Worthing.
The charges, some of them dating back more than three years, included allegations of the theft of £5,000 from the Midland Bank and £4,000 from Lloyds Bank, stealing two passports and making a false declaration to obtain a passport.
Munley, a painter and decorator and ex regular soldier was remanded in custody until February 2.-
