AN elderly driver badly injured in a car crash on a busy road has died.
Jill Sutton, 70, had spent nearly a month fighting for her life in intensive care at Worthing Hospital following the accident on the A27 at Worthing.
Mrs Sutton, of Grand Avenue, Worthing, was driving her Mazda close to the A27's junction with Ivydore Avenue when she was involved in a collision with a Saab 900.
Saab driver William Gritt, 81, of Rosebury Avenue, Goring, suffered cuts and facial injuries and Mrs Sutton's 54-year-old woman passenger had face and chest injuries.
The December 14 crash caused major tailbacks on the dual carriageway and the death has renewed calls for more safety measures to be introduced.
