Hastings Town, of the Dr Martens, reached the quarter-finals of the Sussex Senior Cup with a 4-2 win over gritty Unijet County Leaguers Storrington.
The Sussex Second Division outfit may have conceded home advantage but that was all as they fought tooth and nail in this third round tie.
Hastings had most of the play early on but failed to trouble Kerry Harding in the Storrington goal. In fact Kristian Bridle twice went close to giving the visitors a shock lead.
Hastings finally opened the scoring on 37 minutes through Steve Yates' solo strike and Terry White made it 2-0 at half time.
A mistake by Tony Kessell allowed Matt Rollings to pull one back soon after the restart only for Duncan McArthur to restore the two-goal advantage.
Storrington refused to lie down and Bridle scored from the penalty spot but Yates had the last word.
Hastings manager Dean White said: "We did not play particularly well but all credit to Storrington, they came and gave it a real go."
Sidley United clinched a last-eight tie at home to either Crawley or Brighton Reserves after winning 5-1 at second division Arundel.
Andy Arnold gave the hosts a ninth-minute lead, but Owen Ball levelled almost straight away and a terrific goal from Scott McDonald gave Sidley a half-time advantage.
Former professional Peter Heritage scored two in as many minutes in the second half to end Arundel's challenge and Gerard Moyes sealed victory with the fifth.
Sidley boss Dickie Day said: "The scoreline flattered us a little. But to win 5-1 away from home has got to be good. We have now got Brighton Reserves or Crawley, so I'm really pleased."
East Preston illuminated a chilly Sussex afternoon by winning in the Sussex Floodlight Cup.
Their 2-1 third-round home win piled on the knockout misery for Dr Martens outfit St Leonards, who had been dumped out of the Senior Cup in midweek.
EP boss Carl Stabler was bemused to get a Saturday tie in this traditional midweek event but at least Peter Brackley waited until the lights were on before hitting the 72nd-minute winner.
