ADVENTURE UNLIMITED: Based at Brighton Youth Centre, Edward Street, they arrange courses and activities for young people. Along the way you will learn leadership, teamwork, safety and first aid. But mainly you will have loads of fun doing it.

NACRO: The organisation is running an exciting new training course. Based in Rock place it gives young people the chance to learn computer skills while producing a magazine. All the articles are written by young people on issues that concern them. The magazine, produced in Kemp Town, is distributed to youngsters all over Brighton.

DOME MISSION: The last service was held at Dorset Gardens Methodist Church on January 9. It was preceded by an exhibition of the church at present at what it will look like in the future. This was opened by the Mayor of Brighton and Hove, Jenny Langston.
The demolition of the church will start sometime this month. Services will now take place at London Road Methodist Church, as will the Monday morning keep fit sessions at l0am. And Monday club will continue in the evenings at 8pm.

CHRISTMAS: The estate was very colourful at Christmas and New Year. From the bottom of The Avenue up round the bus route, the outdoor and window displays were absolutely brilliant. Thank you for brightening up the estate. It must have costs pounds. I know people enjoyed it.
On December 18 and 19 the Bella Centre held their Christmas display. More than 150 families attended this excellent display based on nursery rhymes. This is one of the major fund-raising events of the year.
The Church of the Holy Nativity and the Salvation Army put on a joint service on Christmas Eve.

REVIEW OF THE YEAR: Woodingdean Carnival took place on June 26 and the Lions Fun Day and Dog Show on August 15 at Happy Valley Park.
Woodingdean's distinguished visitors included the Roman Catholic Bishop of Arundel and Brighton.
Several popular bus walks took place around Woodingdean during the year visiting Castle Hill Nature Reserve and other beauty spots off the beaten track.
Woodingdean had an Open Studio as part of its contribution to the Brighton Festival in 1999. Two plays were by Armchair Theatre Group - The Weekend, a comedy by Michael Palin in January, and The Suspects in October. The new closed circuit television cameras helped to make travel safer in Falmer Road.
Innovations at Woodingdean Community Library included Sketching for Pleasure and a useful training exercise on how to surf the Internet. It is now hoped to inaugurate a Homework Club before long.
Woodingdean's Labour Action Team led campaigns with petitions to get better bus services including a park-and-ride scheme utilising the racecourse car parks; the extension of the library opening hours; and the installation of a cashpoint machine in Woodingdean, a campaign which was successful.

CHRISTIAN UNITY: A special service is being held at St Nicolas Church, Portslade, on Sunday at 3pm for the week of prayer for Christian Unity. This is a joint service for all six churches in Portslade.
INSTITUTE: The next meeting of the Wilbury W.I. Hove takes place tomorrow at 10.30am at All Saints Church, Hove. A talk, with slides, will be given by Father Nigel Mason on The Great Wall of China.
