Chris Adams is confident that his Sussex side won't be intimidated by Surrey's all-star line-up.
The teams meet in a Benson and Hedges Cup zonal tie at Hove today (10.45am) and even though Surrey are without Ben Hollioake their team still contains nine players with international experience.
"You would probably have to say that they start slight favourites, but there is no way we are going to be intimidated by them," said Adams.
Michael Bevan, who arrived in England early this morning, is almost certain to delay his first appearance of the season until the game against Middlesex at Lord's on Thursday. Adams believes Sussex have enough talent to unsettle their old rivals.
"I'd like to think that when Surrey look at our team-sheet they see a side, especially in the bowling, as good as anything in the country in one-day cricket. They are a strong team, but I'm confident if we perform we will give a very good account of ourselves."
Sussex have named the same 13 who would have been on duty against Kent. That game, and the other three scheduled matches in the group, have all been washed out and Adams knows victory would put his side on course for the quarter-finals.
Sussex (from): Montgomerie, House, Zuiderent, Adams, Cottey, Martin-Jenkins, Rashid, Humphries, Kirtley, Lewry, Robinson, Taylor, Carpenter.
Surrey (probable): Butcher, Ward, Stewart, Thorpe, Brown, A.Hollioake, Radcliffe, Bicknell, Salisbury, Tudor, Bishop, Greenidge.
