TODDLERS: Oak Cottage Nursery's Parent and Toddler group is now open every Wednesday afternoon from 1.15-3.15pm. If you would like to bring your toddler along to play for a couple of hours in a safe environment with loads of toys and stimulation while you sit, have a coffee and chat to other parents, just come along and see Margrette.
The nursery has recently launched an appeal for technical toys in good condition. The kind of things they need are V-Tech computers and musical instruments. If you have anything you can either donate or sell for a reasonable sum, give Marie a ring on 680541.
YOUTH PROJECT: Woodingdean Youth Project is still looking for local young people who enjoy writing, drawing and working on a computer to help launch a new Youth Magazine in the village. If you are interested in getting involved, phone Alan on 600606 and leave a message or e-mail
him at woodingdean.youth-project@virgin.net
BUSES: Following many complaints and comments from local residents, Couns Geoff Wells and Dee Simson met Roger French of Brighton & Hove Buses this week, to discuss the villages bus services.
I am pleased to tell you that services are currently being rescheduled with the No 22 running every ten minutes and using low-floor easy-access buses. There will also be 22s running direct to and from Brighton Station between 6am and 7.45am and 6-7.00pm for commuters.
All this is timed to come into effect around the middle of May. Changes to the No.2 Service are also being considered for implementation around September
BOWLING: Woodingdean Bowling Club would like to welcome both old and new members at the commencement of their new bowling season which starts on Friday, April 28.

ANNUAL MEETING: Saltdean Residents' Association held their annual meeting at the Community Centre on Monday and more than 150 members attended under the Chairmanship of Don Burrell.
His first task was to thank the members of the Saltdean Swimmers for their assistance and support in
the Portobello protest as well as
the SRA committee members
who had over many weeks given
their time to attending the Porto-
bello inquiry and to Coun Brian Hunt for his outstanding efforts in this matter.
Don Burrell also thanked the local residents for their backing and support and instanced two occasions that makes it all worth while - the elderly pensioner who gave him a plastic bag with her 72p contribution and another lady who offered a tatty brown envelope which contained a cheque for £5,000.
Following the treasurer's report Don Burrell reminded the members that the subscriptions alone did not cover the association's expenditure and alternative sources of funds should be sought and the Social Committee will report on this at the next meeting. Other items discussed at the meeting were - the purchase of a millennium celebration clock to be installed over the Post Office in Longridge Avenue and the provision of flowers in public places.
The planned new roundabout on the A259 coast road is in hand and £20,000 has been deposited by Marlborough Leisure with Brighton and Hove Council but no action seems to have been taken and Coun Brian Hunt said that he will look into the matter.

TENANTS: The annual meeting of the Coldean Tenants' Association held on Monday at the church hall was quite well attended. Five council officers were present.
Issues on the agenda included housing benefits, maintenance and repairs.
Senior housing manager Clive Bryan gave a hearty address on The Changing Times of Neighbourhood Services, and encouraged the association to work and claim funds with other community groups in our area.
Also discussed was the recent news that there will be no council houses in ten years. The reaction was that tenants would not wish for private landlords.
Chairman Len and secretary Joyce Godfrey were again re-elected for the current year with the same committee members.
ADVICE SURGERY: Our next councillors' surgery is to take place on April 29 between 10.30am-noon in the library in Selham Drive. PC Bob Burdett should also be present.
