In reply to Mrs Gibbs of Portslade, we have a normal life in Falmer village now but we won't have if a football stadium is built here. We'll have crowds, traffic and parking problems on a scale unknown to this conservation area.
Falmer village will be a no-go area with barriers and stewards monitoring access. What about the families who come to visit the duck pond at weekends? What about the elderly who like to come and sit by the pond? Everyone will be barred just because of football. And it's not just Saturdays in the football season but conferences and other big events are promised all year round.
No wonder we are opposing a stadium, Mrs Gibbs. It's because we want to keep our normal kind of life, not lose it.
-Jill Burt, Old School House, Falmer
