Midfielder Warren Aspinall has pledged to show no mercy to his old club Carlisle on Saturday.
Aspinall grabbed the only goal when the teams met at Brunton Park in October. A repeat in Saturday's sell-out showdown at Withdean could condemn Carlisle to the drop, but Aspinall won't flinch if a chance falls his way.
"You have to be professional about the game," he said. "I am there to win for Brighton, not Carlisle. If I get the chance to score I will be scoring, no doubt about it."
Aspinall was at Carlisle at the same time as fellow Seagull Rod Thomas. "I went to Wembley with them twice, we won promotion twice and were relegated once," he said. "I had three good years up there and made some good friends."
Aspinall, one of nine players Albion manager Micky Adams is letting go, is hoping for an opportunity to vent his frustration against his old chums. He was in the side that launched the Seagulls' current 13-match unbeaten run by walloping Chester 7-1, but was then suspended and has been on the bench ever since.
"Paul Rogers and Charlie Oatway have been doing ever so well in midfield and you have to take the rough with the smooth. It will be up to Carlisle to attack us, because I don't think a point will be enough for them. Carlisle need to come here with a positive attitude and that will suit us."
