To create an Argus campaign prior to the publication of a yet unfinished discussion document about hospital services in Central Sussex seems premature, even misleading (Argus, July 5).
The whole point of the open discussion process, which starts from July 27, is to share views and seek comments on how modern services may develop.
To try to whip your Mid Sussex readers up into campaign mode before they or the Argus have seen the detailed proposals will create the very opposite to the measured, informed debate we hope to have with local people.
The options you reported were not accurate. For example, for all casualty patients to be treated at the Royal Sussex County Hospital is not, and never will be, an option.
As you will see in the discussion document to be published later this month, in both options for change, the vast majority of patients who are now treated at the Princess Royal accident and emergency department would continue to be treated there.
Let's have the debate when the detail is available for comment, rather than campaigns based on half-baked stories.
