All-rounder Robin Martin-Jenkins is Sussex's only injury worry for the Championship match against Essex which starts at Arundel today.
Martin-Jenkins will have a fitness test this morning on the side injury which has been niggling him for a month.
It forced him to miss Sussex's last Championship win at Worcester a month ago and he had further treatment to try and cure the problem at the weekend during the county's drawn match with second division leaders Warwickshire.
Coach Peter Moores said: "It's been a bit of a mystery injury, but the physio seems have got to the bottom if it and it appears it may be back-related.
"Robin was probably only 80 per cent fit at the weekend and wasn't quite firing against Warwickshire."
Mark Robinson is standing by to replace Martin-Jenkins as Sussex look to leapfrog Essex by recording only their second Championship win at the Castle Ground since the county returned there a decade ago.
"It's another very important game. A win would really set us up nicely for the second half of the season."
