So Brighton and Hove Council decided to get rid of our wonderful West Pier market - no doubt to make way for more loud bars and cafes.
The market was an oasis of culture on an increasingly noisy and youth-orientated seafront. No doubt we will see the return of the drummers and drunks who used to sit there before.
It angers me to know that the council would prefer to see a beach littered with plastic beer glasses and rowdy drinkers than to have a pleasant market that is an asset to the community.
