Maurice Hole should look closer to home before blaming the Euro-Americans for evilly gaining the USA (Opinion, July 1).

If he wants to know about gains by "genocide, cheating, terror, rape and racial prejudice" the Highland clearances that followed the Battle of Culloden in 1746 is a scar that still breaks the hearts of loyal Scotsmen.

Where could they go after that? Ask the Irish too.
