A pioneering multimedia exhibit at Brighton Museum which featured the thoughts and photos of local people is being transferred to the internet.
Volunteers from Make Multimedia History, a non profit-making community group, have been using words and pictures collected for the display to create a My Brighton and Hove website.
The original project only featured sites in Brighton but organisers have appealed for new contributors from Hove to provide pictures and words for the website.
The Brighton Museum display used a touch-screen booth to give visitors an insight into real life in the town.
Volunteers have been revising the booth's material for use on the internet.
They have had to transcribe hours of voice recordings and convert pictures into internet-ready formats.
Jack Latimer, who is co-ordinating the project, said: "We have been asking people from Hove to take a photo and write a piece about the place they have photographed.
"People who contribute will be invited to come along and find out more about the project."
A request for volunteers to construct the site received a massive response.
All those working on the project have received web training.
The first selection of My Brighton and Hove will be available on the Make Multimedia History website next month.
The project is expected to be completed by March next year.
