In recent Argus reports regarding Brighton and Hove councillors' allow-ances, I was surprised there was no mention of the brazen 140 per cent increase in allowance forced through this year by newly-elected Tory councillors.
This smashes the Labour-led policy set last year of an allowance freeze, despite Tory election promises of spending restraint. Like snow in summer, the chances of Tories keeping promises seems remote.
