AOL has bucked the dot com trend of losing investors' money and registered a $1.2 billion profit.
The firm piled on 900,000 new subscribers in the last quarter of the year alone.
It now boasts 23.2 million members.
E-commerce and advertising revenues leapt 95 per cent in the same quarter to $609 million. It made one-third of its money in these areas.
