Albion's poor disciplinary record last season could result in a misconduct charge and a fine.
The Seagulls will face the FA at Lancaster Gate on Friday to explain the nine red cards and 76 bookings they accumulated last term.
They are one of only two clubs in Division Three along with Carlisle United to be called up before the governing body's disciplinary commission.
The FA are also interviewing Derby County, Tranmere Rovers, West Bromich Albion and Millwall.
FA spokesman Steve Double said: "We want the clubs to account for their disciplinary record.
"It could be that they could face a misconduct charge on the back of that record possibly a fine.
"Brighton are one of a number and it's something we do every season.
"It is part of our ongoing policy to encourage clubs to keep their discipline."
Albion boss Micky Adams is scheduled to attend the meeting and he said: "All the clubs in the bottom half of the diciplinary table are called to the FA every year to explain their discipline."
When asked how he will explain Albion's record last season, Adams replied: "That's down to the FA and me."
But the Seagulls boss does hope the club will ecape punishment. "They might not do anything and might just want a chat," he said.
Albion will face second division Millwall in the first leg of their first round Worthington Cup tie at Withdean Stadium on Tuesday, August 22 (7.45pm).
The return leg at the New Den is scheduled for Tuesday, September 5 (7.45pm).
Albion supporters hold their AGM at the Excelsior Hotel, Kingsway, Brighton, tomorrow night.
