Mary Mears longingly looks forward to a common sense Conservative government (Argus, July 22).
She is due for disappointment if the recent comments of prospective parliamentary Conservative candidate Andrew Gold are to be taken seriously.
Although he has dutifully reiterated some local gobbets spoon-fed to him by Brighton Conservatives, we have also learned he thinks stop and search in pubs and clubs need to be improved, school uniform is important and now hunting with dogs should be allowed.
Why didn't the Tories select someone like Brian Oxley who at least knows Brighton - down to the last cracked paving stone. The message from Brighton to Andrew Gold is we don't want hunting and we don't want you.
