The people of Telscombe are understandably incensed at what they have been led to believe concerning Telscombe Town Council's actions, which have been consistently misrepresented.
I am saddened and disappointed that at the recent council meeting residents, whom I believed to be fair-minded and reasonable, were prepared to judge and condemn on the basis of unfounded accusations.
I know my every action and decision on the council has been taken with the best interests of the town at heart and I have done everything possible to oppose the Portobello plans, as have all councillors involved.
I challenge those who level accusations at Independent councillors and call for my resignation to prove I have ever done anything detrimental to the interests of the town.
I am quite content to be judged on the basis of what I have done and achieved but not on the erroneous supposition of what I might intend. I am not prepared to be bullied into resigning and have every intention of continuing to work for Telscombe, as I have done ever since I was elected.
-Councillor Roy Goodall, Telscombe Town Council
