Lewes-based international design, project and facilities management specialist Owen Williams Consultants has acquired a building services subsidiary of the failed James Longley Group.
Twelve staff of HVS Building Engineering Services, which will now be known as HVS Building Services, have transferred to Owen Williams' office in Caburn House, Brooks Road.
Maurice Jenkinson, of Owen Williams, welcomed the acquisition, which he said will bring an exciting new dimension to the group's property sector and provide an important base from which to strengthen the group's facilities management expertise.
He said: "It's sad to see one of the country's oldest family firms, James Longley, go under.
"But we're delighted we have been instrumental in saving this very sound subsidiary company.
"HVS has a first-class reputation for providing high-quality facilities management and maintenance services to a wide base of clients.
"Those clients can be confident that, under the Owen Williams umbrella, the high standards on which HVS built its enviable track record will be strictly maintained."
