A hotel chef died after a pan of boiling soup overturned on him as he worked.
Matthew James Dunn, 27, from Worthing, was a chef at Hotel St Nicholas, on St Nicholas Cliff, Scarborough, where he was staying.
He is thought to have had a fit in the hotel's kitchen. As he collapsed the boiling soup spilled on him causing burns and scalds.
He was taken to Scarborough Hospital on July 20 and later transferred to the burns unit of Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield, where he died six days later.
Mr Dunn's family still live in the Worthing area but have been up in Yorkshire visiting the hotel and meeting members of staff.
The hotel's general manager Hugh Hendry said: "We are absolutely devastated for Matthew. It was an absolutely tragic thing to happen and all the staff are devastated.
"Everyone is shocked by what has happened to him. All our thoughts are with Matthew's family. His family have been at the hotel."
Scarborough coroner Michael Oakley opened an inquest into his death and adjourned it to a date to be fixed.
