Sussex Seconds were frustrated by rain as only six overs were possible on the second day of their Championship clash against Gloucestershire at Bristol University.
Play did not start until 2.30pm and Sussex, resuming on 16-1 in reply to Gloucestershire's first innings 189, moved on to 35-2 before more rain cut short the day.
Sussex lost Dutchman Bas Zuiderent just before the rain returned with opening bowler Neil Bressington having him caught behind for nine.
Toby Peirce has scored 19 of Sussex's runs while Jamie Carpenter is yet to get off the mark, having faced only one ball.
The hold-up was particularly frustrating for opener Peirce, who is seeking to re-discover some form having passed 50 only twice in 20 Championship innings for the first team - the last occasion being nine weeks ago.
Sussex went into the match bidding for a fourth win in five games, and some negotiation is likely today in order to bring about a contrived finish with Sussex chasing a target.
