Die-hard Albion fan Gerry Davis brought the 4,000-strong crowd to their feet during the friendly against Sheffield Wednesday when he asked his girlfriend to marry him at half-time.
Gerry, 26, took to the Withdean pitch pretending he was going to take part in a competition where fans can win £1,000 by kicking a ball towards a target.
But instead he stood there while an announcement went around the stadium asking whether his partner, Wendy Coombs, would become his wife.
Wendy, 30, was then taken onto the pitch where Gerry went down on bended knee for the formal proposal.
As she accepted the crowd started cheering Gerry's name and congratulating the Tunbridge Wells couple with applause.
Despite his devotion to the Albion, Gerry, who was introduced to the club as a boy by his Brighton-born dad, said: "I love the Albion - but Wendy comes first!"
