Rail users are calling for action to improve safety at a busy station car park.
Railtrack has just completed a £4.5 million refurbishment of 150-year-old Lewes station.
Campaigners have welcomed the changes but say work is also urgently needed to improve access to and from the station car park.
Hundreds of commuters and other passengers use the car park, situated off Station Street, each day.
But local councillor Simon Sinnatt says the access, via a steep, narrow slip road leading on to a busy stretch of road, is difficult and dangerous.
Coun Sinnatt said: "Any driver regularly using the station knows that obtaining access to the car park requires the skills of an Alpine rally driver. A lot of time and money went into the new station but this is the car park that time forgot."
A Railtrack spokes-man said: "Improvements have already been made to the car park. It has been resurfaced in places and CCTV cameras and security fencing put in.
"The question of access on to the highway is for East Sussex County Council."
A council spokesman said: "The junction of the car park slip road and Station Street is not a priority high accident spot.
"There have been two slight injury accidents in the last three years.
"However, we will be happy to discuss Coun Sinnatt's concerns with him."
